puppet theater

Opening Night!

Yesterday Margo and I finished up the props for our opening play in the puppet theater. She did a wonderful job painting the butterfly for the finale! I could see the pride in her eyes when we glued the wings onto her butterfly puppet.

We did a screening of our show for Papa yesterday and Margo got a standing ovation! One more practice run this morning and we will be ready for our premiere for Mom and Dad and sister Helen. Margo does feel we need popcorn 🍿 for the viewers…and for her when we are done. It was very important to her that she wrote her own name on the marquee for the show. When she finished, she said “My S looks like a three…but that’s okay, because that is how old I am!” 😂 Break a leg Margo!❤️❤️❤️

I had a wonderful day with Margo yesterday. We were worn out by the end of the day and bedtime came early for both of us. She completed her fairy garden and played with the doll house in between puppet show practice and painting props. I was right about her approach to the fairy garden….first thing she did was mixed all of the colored rice into “rainbow rice”. Love that little girl!

Puppet Theater

Coming up in March, the Date to Create with Helen and Margo is called “Show Time!” Each girl will practice and perform a puppet show for her family. I’m on the search for simple scripts and DIY puppets to make for their shows.

This refrigerator box is being transformed into a Puppet Theater extraordinaire, fitting for their best performance. My husband always tells me, “Having the best tools, turns out the best results”. My hope is, that this theater will be used for many hours of creative story telling in the coming years.

I love turning trash into treasure, so I’m using only materials I have on hand and a bit of creative thinking.

At the moment, I am having an artist’s block. Not quite sure how to go about decorating it beyond this point. I want it to be retro and whimsical…..
